The rectangular hinged top with brass studded decoration and pierced brass mounts at the angles, the interior with a fitted compartment, above three drawers, the exterior with a pierced brass latch and side carrying handles.

These were used in Kenya and Zanzibar to store valuables and spices in the 18th and 19th century. Today this makes a great coffee table or chest at the end of the bed.
