The shaped and arched backs with serpentine cresting above generous upholstered back panels, the boldly scrolled en crosse arm supports carved with foliate volutes and acanthus detailing, issuing from carved and fluted arm posts, the deep over-stuffed seats above a shaped seat rail, raised on characteristic os de mouton — mutton-bone — legs of vigorous serpentine form, united by a conforming shaped and carved flat stretcher of undulating outline centred by a scrolling cartouche, the whole in richly figured dark walnut, re-upholstered in warm sand linen.
