A Mid 20th Century Italian Polychrome-Painted Baroque style Cabine
Of two-part form, the upper section surmounted by a shaped broken-arch pediment centred with a carved and gilded scroll finial ; the canted upper case fitted with a pair of doors, each elaborately decorated in polychrome with scrolling cartouche reserves in ochre, sienna, and cream against a marbled sage-green ground, the whole framed by conforming canted pilasters with lozenge and foliate painted ornament; the lower section fitted with two long drawers, each panel decorated en suite with central cartouche motifs in the Baroque manner, flanked by canted stiles continuing the decorative programme; raised on bracket feet of shaped outline.
The painted decoration throughout in the Italian tradition, employing faux-marbre grounds in verdigris and ochre with freely painted scrollwork in cream and burnt sienna; the hardware comprising shaped brass loop handles
