A Patinated Hand-Forged Iron and Glass Low Table, after Diego Giacometti, Produced by Paul Ferrante,
The rectangular plate-glass top rests on four rectangular pad supports. Beneath it is a boat-form base of hammered iron, with two pairs of sweeping, cradle-like curved uprights. These are joined by a rectangular stretcher frame and a longitudinal central stretcher, and bound at the junctions with forged collars and rings. Each long side is centred by an openwork cartouche of opposed C-scrolls. The base stands on four short legs ending in flattened, out-turned feet. The whole has a dark, softly burnished patina that reveals the hammer marks of the forging.
