A French Provincial Walnut Serpentine Commode, Louis XV, Provence or Dauphiné, Mid-18th Century
The shaped, moulded top follows the line of the case. The three-part serpentine front has a recessed central section between two boldly bowed outer sections, and is fitted with three long drawers. Each drawer has a pair of rocaille C-scroll gilt-brass handles and a central rosette escutcheon. The sides are panelled, the apron is shaped, and the commode stands on short scrolled feet. The figured walnut has a rich, warm patina.
