A Spanish Silvered Wrought Iron Table Lamp, Mid-20th Century
The tapering hand-forged stem stands on a tripod base of flat strap legs, each bent down at the end into a splayed foot. The shaft is broken by turned ring collars and centred by an openwork spherical cage knop made of curved iron straps, with beaded collars above and below. A flat dish bobèche sits at the top, below a silvered collar and a simulated candle sleeve with a dripped-wax finish.
The surface is silver leaf over the iron, worn through in many places to show the dark metal and a warm undertone beneath.
