A Spanish Gilt Wrought Iron Table Lamp, Mid-20th Century
The slender forged stem stands on a tripod of serpentine strap legs, each arching out from a central collar and ending in a small curled scroll foot. The shaft has turned ring collars and is centred by a tulip-bud knop of overlapping, pointed sheet-iron petals. A shaped drip-pan bobèche with angular, upturned edges sits at the top, below a gilt cup and an ivory-toned simulated candle sleeve.
The whole lamp is gilded over the iron, and the gilt remains warm and largely intact. The gilding wears through to dark metal on the edges and high points.
